MARY ELLA SHUTTLEWORTH, 1852-1905, was born in Pensacola, Florida. Her mother died when she was six and she lived with her father and/or her grandparents, Dr. John Brosnaham and his wife, Isabella Eugenia Sierra. In 1872 she married Francis Celestino Brent and they had thirteen children. She died the day before Christmas, 1905, from cancer of the jaw. She is buried in St. Michael's Cemetery in Pensacola.

SAMUEL SHUTTLEWORTH was born in October 1853 in Brooklyn, New York. He was about six weeks old when he died in November 1853 in Brooklyn, New York. Samuel was originally buried at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn in the same plot with his paternal grandmother. He and his grandmother were reinterred 5 October 1871, when William Louis Shuttleworth died, and they are now all in the same plot. John George Shuttleworth, William Louis Shuttleworth's first child with his first wife, Clotilda Brosnaham, was later buried in his father's plot also.

DAVID DOBBS SHUTTLEWORTH, 1855-1936, was born in Pensacola, and like his older sister, Mary Ella, spent much of his childhood with his maternal grandparents, John and Isabella Sierra Brosnaham. He married Laura Hyer Bell of Pensacola and they had nine (or ten) children, most of whom remained in the Pensacola area. Laura died in 1904 and David died in 1936. Both are buried in St. Michael's Cemetery in Pensacola.

The photos of Mary Ella Shuttleworth and her half brother John George were handed down in the family. The photo of David Dobbs Shuttleworth is courtesy of a Find A Grave researcher who found the photo in a VMI yearbook which has since been donated to the VMI.
