Genevieve Anna Brent was born 26 July 1889, in Pensacola. She was the tenth child born to Francis Celestino Brent and Mary Ella Shuttleworth.
Genevieve, like her sisters, went away to boarding school. Unlike them, she went to Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School in Washington, D.C., 1907-1909.
Also, unlike her sisters, she was married in Chicago, not in Pensacola. She married William O’Hara Turtle, known as “Billy,” on on February 5, 1916.
Billy was born in Massachusetts but by 1900 his family was in Pensacola. He went to Princeton and later worked for American Light in Chicago. Their two oldest children, Mary Brent “Mollie” and James Edgar “Jimmy,” were born there before they returned to Pensacola to live. Their third and last child, Emily, was born in Pensacola.
Billy died in 1967 in Pensacola and Genevieve died there on 14 February 1974. They are both buried in St. Michael’s Cemetery, next to his parents.
