"Be it remembered that on this 9th day of May 1846 the following marriage license was issued by the Clerk of the Parke Circuit Court...State of Indiana, Parke County ...The State of Indiana to any person empowered by law to solemnize marriages in said County Greeting. You are hereby duly authorized to join together as husband and wife Elbridge Whitehead and Caroline Aldridge, and for so doing this shall be your sufficient license: In testimony whereof I John G. Davis, clerk of the cirucit court in and for said County have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said Court at Rockville this 9th day of May Anno Domini 1846.
