Brother Robert was born William Thomas Brent, son of Thomas William Brent and Merced Gonzalez and brother of Francis Celestino Brent, in 1846 in Pensacola, Florida. He died in Kirkwood, St. Louis, Missouri. C. Ss. R. stand for Congregatio Sanctissimi Redemptoris.

The Prayer card was found inside a missal or prayer book belonging to one of William Thomas Brent's nieces.
