Arthur Franklin Boyd was born in Georgia in 1888, the son of Arthur and Sarah Boyd. His father died when he was young and at the age of fifteen he joined the Merchant Marine. He eventually ended up in Wyoming where he met and married Ethel Maude Miller of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Arthur worked for various oil companies, including Texas Gulf Sulphur and Humble Oil. Arthur died 27 September 1953 in Anahuac, Chambers County, Texas, not far from Beaumont and Houston. He is buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont next to his wife Ethel.
