Amanda was the daughter of Dr. John Brosnaham and Isabella Eugenia Sierra and the second wife of Col. William Louis Shuttleworth. She died in 1858 when their two children were very young. Her husband is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.
