Celinda Peirce married Daniel Stewart in 1837 in Gallatin County, Illinois. Two years later Daniel became ill and died. He was visited several times by Dr. James Boyle from September 29 through October 8. The bill for the visits amounted to $28.50.

Celinda and Daniel had a son, Wakeman, born the year that Daniel died. Celinda remarried in 1841 to Martin Darvin Gillette Jr. Martin had been the administrator of Daniel's estate. Celinda died in 1848 leaving Martin with three young daughters plus her son. Martin married again, this time to Jemima Bramlet in 1850 adding five more children to the Gillette family. It is not known where Daniel was buried but $3.50 was spent on a white vest - "burial clothes" - by Celinda. Celinda was buried in the cemetery in Equality, Gallatin County, Illinois.
