Caroline Brent was the last child born to Robert Young Brent and Harriet Cottringer. Her grandfather was Robert Brent, first mayor of Washington D.C. and her paternal great grandparents were Robert Brent and Ann Carroll. She is buried with others of her family in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery in Forest Glen Maryland.
